A safe, convenient alternative to paper checks for people in your community
Millions of Americans, including senior citizens and people with disabilities, still rely on paper checks for their Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments. Unfortunately, mailed checks can be vulnerable to weather delays, theft and loss and other hassles.
The Direct Express® Debit MasterCard® card is a new alternative to checks, even for people who don't have bank accounts. The card is issued by Comerica Bank, as the U.S. Department of the Treasury's financial agent. Treasury encourages people who receive Social Security payments by check to consider signing up for the Direct Express® card. Help spread the word to people in your community. Your organization can partner with the Direct Express® card program to help provide accurate information to federal check recipients.
